Chalcedony is a translucent, crystalline form of quartz. Its name comes from the Latin word "chalcedonius", probably deriving from a town in Asia Minor known as Chalcedon, known today as Istanbul. Chalcedony is closely related to aventurine, carnelian, agate, and onyx. These pieces of chalcedony were found in Arizona, United States.
